the old chancery is a diplomatic complex comprising residences and cultural centre for the embassy of india in the capital city of morocco - rabat. studio archohm won the competition to design this campus with the main focus being - representing india’s vast culture & heritage in a tangible form as well as an expression of political values of the country. as ex planatory variables, the design takes into account the strengths of countries, india & morocco ranging from domestic culture & heritage, values and regionalism. the location, appearance and convenience of the facility, as well as the presence and maintenan ce of public spaces in and around the embassy all contribute to the first impression for visitors and therefore, the urban context has been keenly taken into account. the facility is home to the counselor and his office bearers and the design adheres to th e circulation protocols that come with it. the form alone, does not engage in a visual experience, but more importantly, the material vocabulary. the materials are earthy, climatically responsive, and age with grace namely weathered steel sheets and yellow dholpur stone. the perforation in the materials keeps the indoors ventilated, private and amply day - lit
